Confession Day!

It is time to confess, I have been feeling very guilty about my blog of late. I have had grand visions of showing a fab sewing project I whipped up each day, having thousands of readers and being discovered by Martha before I am a grandmother. Instead I am sewing everyday, writing even more and have hardly any pictures I can show! At the moment I am finishing up projects for a book proposal, finishing revisions on the book Sweatshirt Remix release date May 09 and finishing up my next column for Creative Homearts plus all the life stuff. Not any busier than anyone else and I am sewing lots just can't show it. I will have some fun things coming up for the holidays I will be able to show. I can keep giving tips for sewing up savings though!

1001 SAVVY Ways to SAVE with SEWING!
3. Got a new sewing project in mind and thinking of new fabric before heading out to buy any check the linen closet for sheets, tablecloths, pillow cases you no longer use. They have interesting patterns and textures AND can be sewn up into some great projects. Sheets are also ideal for making an inexpensive duvet cover by sewing two together or backing a quilt. Two napkins make a pillow, just applique over any spots.

SO, sew, sew I am back to work with a clear well almost clear conscience!  Debra---I really am a Stitch Chick, a writing chick, a Mom chick and----!

Needle Felting Fun!

Nf_class_sewshow08 These are some of my needle felting students at the Sewing show. The dear lady in the front braved the snow with her daughter to come to the show. The repetitive jabbing of the needle into the wool is therapeutic in many ways. One lady inquired if there was an "exhusband" kit sort of like a voodoo doll! Hmm...not sure if there's a class in that or not! Speaking of creativity and girlfriends in September there is going to be a very fun weekend retreat The Heart Sister's Creativity Spa with two amazing creative talents Jennifer Louden and Suzanne Falter Barns. The Bad Girls Cabaret under the tutelage of Dr. Serenity Hawkfire and yours truly in the Artgazm room. It is summer camp, a giant sleepover, a place to bring your girlfriends, sisters, Mom, grown up daughters and any sister of the heart!

Fabric Therapy TM (TOO MUCH)

Fabric1  Art therapy has been used for a long time with very good results. I have developed my own version I call Fabric Therapy TM. It is simple really, everyday I gaze at my fabric stash lovingly gathering inspiration and sanity for the day ahead. For example the cat has a hairball next to my machine presser foot on the morning I decide not to wear my slippers. I turn to Fabric Therapy TM and stroke the GRRReen stash. A kleenex ends up blasted all over the inside of the washer like a suction cup orgy, I turn once again to Fabric Therapy TM.  I am really seeing RED, I mean really its the REDS to the rescue. The dog decides to behave like a 2 year old going on 17 and redecorates with toilet paper streamers up and down the hall. By this time it is only 10 am in the morning and I am feeling blue. You get the picture by now, Fabric Therapy TM ( TOO MUCH) no never.

Just like the miniskirt another blast from the past newly discovered by the young craftistas knitted cozies. Yes remember those Barbie Dolls tops sticking out of a knitted balloon dress. Well now you can cover your TP with a sushi roll cover or your ipod with a pop tart design. Very clever and cute over at the latest eletter from Crafts. It is such fun to see all the creativity going on and the old becoming new again with a more relevant and eco savvy  awareness.

I am off not to sew an "organic hem" or as we know it a raw edge. Creatively yours, Debra  Asigdqillus_2A Stitch Chick and----Restyle Goddess!
